Featured Artist Kenny Scharf
Kenny Scharf
Kenny Scharf is an American visual artist whose work has been seen and enjoyed all over the world since the early 1980’s. He coined the now much-used term “Pop Surrealism” to describe his work, with its use of iconic images such as The Jetsons, The Flintstones, and others. Scharf was part of the legendary New York graffiti scene of the early 80s along with his roommate at the time, Keith Haring. In addition to painting and graffiti art, Scharf has created celebrated Performance Art pieces such as being dressed up as a caveman while giving away donuts out the back of his personally redesigned golf cart of the future. Scharf regularly keeps exhibits at galleries and museums and has recently been selected as an artist for The Boneyard Project, in which he paints an entire vintage private aircraft. He lives and works in Los Angeles and New York.
